How will the event take place?

The event will take place on Friday, April 14th (Opening Ceremony) to Sunday, April 16th. There will be 24 hours allowed to work on your project, then there will be the project presentations and, finally, a closing ceremony.  A detailed schedule will be sent out shortly before the event.


WHO CAN ATTEND?

#HackUNL is opened to any college student over the age of 18! UNL Faculty, students, staff, and industry experts are highly encouraged to participate! We are expecting a diverse group of participants, so please do not hesitate to sign-up! 


HOW MANY APPLICANTS WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN #HackUNL?

We currently have enough space for 80 participants to join a #HackUNL team. Applications will be reviewed by a committee and selected participants will and be notified via email.


HOW MUCH IS THIS GOING TO COST ME?

#HackUNL is completely free! Special thank you to ASUN Student Government, UNL RHA, Coach Cheetah, #HackHarassment, Major League Hacking, Github, and Born This Way Foundation for their support!


Where will #HackUNL be located?

#HackUNL events will occur on UNL Downtown campus. Locations will vary by day and will be located at the UNL Student Union and UNL Pixel Lab (Henzlik Hall).


WHAT ABOUT TEAM SIZES?

The maximum number of people a team can have is four. Though encouraged, having a team beforehand is not necessary. If you want to form a team at #HackUNL, there will be a fun mixer on Friday after the opening ceremony to help you meet potential team members. You can also come to one (or all) of our three #HackUNL Workshops.


WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

You should bring some form of identification (driver’s license, school ID card, etc.), laptops, phones, chargers and sleeping gear (for Saturday).


WHAT SHOULDN’T I BRING?

Tools such as power drills, Dremel drills and the like are prohibited. Articles such as weapons and alcohol are also prohibited. Any competitor found to be in possession of these articles will be disqualified from the competition.


DO WE HAVE TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT?

Unfortunately, we will not be offering a travel reimbursement for #HackUNL.


Is there a code of conduct that participants must agree to follow to participate in #HackUNL?

Yes! All participants must agree to adhere to the MLH code of conduct (COC). You can read the MLH COC here!
