For more than 25 years Star City News has been a weekly newscast that is produced by students at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
Student reporters cover news in Lincoln and the surrounding communities and is aired live on Time Warner Cable channel 21 every Tuesday at 5 p.m. during the school year.
Trina Creighton, an assistant professor of broadcasting, says Star City News offers students the chance to apply what they learn from their classes to a commercial newsroom housed in Harold and Marian Andersen Hall.
In fall 2010 more than 100 students in radio, television, online and print journalism were involved in the production and broadcast of the midterm elections.
