- Student Advisory Board will be soliciting donations for the Food Bank/Lincoln Public Schools Backpack program, which provides meals to disadvantaged students and their families during the weekends.
Tuesday, April 14
- Documentary night for students and faculty in Room 15 of Andersen Hall, 6 to 9 p.m. CoJMC documentaries will be shown. Sponsored by Student Advisory Board.
Wednesday, April 15
- Luncheon for seniors, noon-2 p.m., Room 15. Seniors are invited for free lunch and to hear about the CoJMC senior class of 2009 scholarship fund. Lunch provided by Noodles & Co.; sponsored by the University of Nebraska Foundation. Faculty members are invited.
- Showing of "A Nation Held Hostage," a new documentary by Salim Amin about the abuses being committed in Eritrea, where there's no freedom of expression, movement, religion or press. Amin will be on hand to discuss the film. Students, faculty and the public are invited. The event begins at 7 p.m. in Room 15.
Thursday, April 16
- Faculty reception for alumni award winners, 8:30-9:30 a.m., Hitchcock Center
- Alumni award winners visit classes
- Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for sale in the lobby, 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. - Public Relations Student Society of America
- Honors convocation, 7:30 p.m., Nebraska Union - By invitation only; faculty members are invited. CoJMC students will be recognized for holding scholarships, being on the Dean's Honor Roll, earning special awards or being members of honor societies. Keynote speaker: Salim Amin, Nairobi-based photojournalist and entrepreneur who started A24, a continent-wide 24-hour news and information service in Africa. Dr. Jef Johnston and Wayne Brown of Bright Futures Foundation also will speak.
Friday, April 17
- Alumni award winners visit classes
- CoJMC Alumni Association luncheon, 11:45 a.m., Chez Hay, 210 N. 14th St. By invitation only; faculty members are invited. Alumni award winners are honored.
- Career and Internship Fair (auditorium), 1-5 p.m., featuring 10 local firms and companies who have internships or job opportunities (contact Carla Kimbrough)
- Andersen Hall open house, 2-5 p.m., for any alums in town for All-Campus Reunion; not sure yet how many will attend (contact Michelle Hassler)
- CoJMC Student Dance, East Campus Union ballroom, 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., sponsored by Student Advisory Board.
