Les Rose

Les Rose is the cameraman for Everybody Has a Story. And he tells everyone he meets that it is "the best job in America." Here's why.

Les grew up in Indialantic, Fla. (pop. 2900) and watched a whole lot of On The Road with Charles Kuralt. He says he connected with it because his parents instilled in him a genuine love of people and travel. In fact the Rose family use to hit the road every spring break and every summer vacation. Les' favorite trip...a drive from Florida to Washington state and back (26 states in 31 days).

Steve Hartman says, "Les is perfect for this job. Not just because he's a talented cameraman; but because he has a unique ability to make friends instantly. And believe it or not, he stays in touch with almost everyone we interview."

When Les isn't sending postcards to new found friends (or on the road with Steve), he lives in Los Angeles with his wife Michele and their new baby boy.

He is also a volunteer faculty member for the National Press Photographers Association and lectures frequently at the University of Southern California Before joining CBS News in 1998, Les worked for KCBS-TV in Los Angeles where he won 7 local Emmys - including "Outstanding News Videographer."

Rose graduated from the University of South Florida in 1979 with a degree in mass communications.
