Faculty honored by UNL Parents Association

Eight faculty members from the College of Journalism and Mass Communications were honored Feb. 18 by the UNL

Parents Association and UNL Teaching Council. Dick Streckfuss was also recognized by the Shades of Leadership program on April 14.

At the February convocation, award recipients were honored for their contributions to students.

The UNL Parents Association solicited nominations by a special mailing to parents of UNL students, asking them to nominate someone at the university who “had made a significant difference” in the life of their son or daughter. Awards went to all individuals who were nominated by at least one parent or student.

Dick Streckfuss, news-editorial, received the awards for the fifth year. Stacy James and Nancy Mitchell, advertising, were honored for the third year. Anthony Adolfi and Wayne Melanson, advertising, Larry Walklin, broadcasting, and Richard Thien, news-editorial, received the award for the first time this year.

Streckfuss was honored April 14 at the UNL culture Center with a Shades of Leadership Award in recognition of his contributions to students of color at UNL. Students said he has been someone they could turn to when they needed help and that he has provided excellent support for them and made a positive impact on their lives.
