Stacy James received her master of arts degree in journalism at UNL graduation ceremonies held Dec. 19, 1992.

Wayne Melanson was the 1992-93 sponsor of the Student Ad Club, was named student Organization of the Month this spring by the UNL Office for Student Involvement.

Nancy Mitchell received a College of journalism Distinguished Teaching Award. The award was presented at the UNL Honors Convocation on April 2.
Mitchell was also selected to attend the Freedom Forum Seminar for advertising teachers in June, 1992, and was chosen to receive a 1993 Hitchcock Faculty Fellowship

Chuck Piper was elected an honorary member of the Innocents Society, a senior honorary at UNL.

Broadcasting

Rich Alloway hosts a state call-in program with Governor Ben Nelson, sponsored by the Nebraska Broadcasters Association. Forty Stations in Nebraska receive the broadcast.

Hubert Brown produced a segment on the issue of cameras in Nebraska’s trial courts for the Nebraska ETV program Statewide that aired on Friday, May 28.

Peter Mayeux is working on revisions for the second edition of his book, Broadcast News Writing and Reporting. Close to 4,000 copies of the book’s first edition have been distributed.

Jerry Renaud serves as a member of the board of the Northwest Broadcasting Association. He was chosen to receive a 1993 Hitchcock Faculty Fellowship.

John Bender has been elected to the UNL Academic Senate.

Daryl Frazell and George Tuck are negotiating with McGraw Hill for publication of their book titled Principles of Editing: A Comprehensive Guide for Students and Journalists.

Dick Streckfuss will present a paper, “News before Newspapers, A Perspective on News Values,” at the annual convention of the Association of Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication in August.

George Tuck and some of his students will have their photography exhibited at the Nebraska Haus in Bad Segeberg, Germany, during the summer. The exhibit of approximately 30 prints will be unveiled at the Nebraska Haus by Nebraska Secretary of State Allen Beermann.
