Director Angela Anandappa
Dr. Anandappa is the Founding Director for the Alliance for Advanced Food Sanitation, and a Research Assistant Professor with the Department of Food Science and Technology. She comes to the Alliance with over 15 years of experience in food safety, molecular diagnostics and program development experience.
Her work involves developing inter- disciplinary research and programs to address complex food safety issues and prevent them by addressing hygienic design and sanitation challenges.
The scope of sanitation ranges from facility design and material science to microbiology and chemical of hygiene and may include methods and validation that aid in addressing manufacturing challenges in the food industry. And thus, the work of the alliance includes identifying and evaluating new and improved materials fit for food manufacturing environments to better control pathogens and biofilms, identify improved products and methods of cleaning and improve the effectiveness and ecological friendliness of cleaning agents for all types of manufacturing processes.
Most importantly, as an Alliance of industry and academic leaders we will critically look at issues shared by many and attempt to solve them in a manner that can only be done because of a unique collaboration between organizations.Business Office

The Alliance’s research, extension and teaching activities engage university of Nebraska–Lincoln faculty and address the needs and interests of the private sector partners. The overall goal of these activities is to develop improved sanitation practices that can be implemented by the food processing and affiliated industries.
We will create a safer food supply through advanced sanitation approaches and practices.
