Spray application technology for aerial applicators and ground application equipment has advanced substantially over the past few decades, particularly concerning rate control and application resolution. Sam Marx, Ph.D. student at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and former engineer at Capstan Ag, joins this episode of the FarmBits podcast to discuss all things spray technology. In this episode we cover PWM technology, the particular challenges associated with aerial and ground applications, persistent challenges in the spray application industry, and his Ph.D. work that seeks to improve the efficiency of spray nozzle designs using computational fluid dynamics. Sam has a wealth of knowledge and it was great to get his well-rounded, objective perspective on the state of the spray application industry.
