Ask Your Body

Description

Ask your body was a piece I created to showcase body dysmorphia and body horror. I wanted to show that body parts have the capacity to be beautiful but the same capacity to be scary and unsettling. By creating a piece with hands that grab as you walk past and inhumane bodies staring at you, I was hoping to invoke that unsettled feeling. My oblique strategy for this project was the prompt "ask your body" and I interpreted that into something scary rather than peaceful as it may have been intended. I hope to create more pieces in the future to display body horror and body dysmorphia as this one does.
