TLTE, M3 Initiative hosting panel discussion about dual language programs

The Department of Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education, along with the M3 Initiative, will host a virtual panel discussion to learn more about dual language programs in Nebraska. 

The discussion, which will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. April 17 on Zoom, is titled, “The world of bilingual education: What is it like to attend and teach in a dual language program in Nebraska?” About eight panelists consisting of dual language teachers, parents, principals and students will lead the discussion. 

“We are pleased that UNL is engaged with and able to support dual language programs across the state, and we hope people are able to join the panel to find out more about why these programs are so beneficial for students and families,” said Theresa Catalano, professor in teaching, learning and teacher education who also leads the M3 Initiative. 

The event is designed to help dual language advocates connect with each other, while also helping people interested in developing a program to make connections and gain resources. Catalano will facilitate the panel discussion along with graduate students in her Foundations of Dual Language Education course. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists throughout the discussion.
