Employer in Residence Program

The Employer in Residence program is designed to provide a variety of opportunities for employers to raise their profile with Nebraska Law students. The goal is to supplement the Exploring Opportunities program series and introduce Nebraska Law students to specific employers, not just to the variety of practice areas.

Your engagement can take many forms, depending on the needs, budget, and time constraints of your organization.

Option 1: Legal Employer Fair or Government and Public Interest Fair

One of the easiest ways to get in front of Nebraska Law students and raise your profile on campus is to join one of the employer fairs in mid-November.  We welcome private employers at the “Legal Employer Fair” including both firms and companies who are looking to hire for attorneys as well as for JD Advantage roles.  At the “Government and Public Interest Fair” we welcome non-profit agencies, military recruiters, and other government agencies. For both these fairs, tables are set up throughout the law school and students take the opportunity to engage in one-on-one conversations with representatives from each of the employers. The fairs have had great student turn out in past years.

Government and Public Interest Fair is November 15 from 3:30 – 5:00pm
Legal Employer Fair is November 16 from 3:30 – 5:00pm

Option 2: Sponsored Coffee Cart

Sponsor the Harbor Coffeehouse Cart in our lobby for all students. Typically, the cart runs from 8:30am – 10:30am. Employers can provide signage, flyers, and additional advertising materials to raise firm profile during this busy 2-hour window. This new addition to our Employer in Residence program has proven to be very popular with our student body and is an easy way to gain name recognition.

Option 3: Lunch

The employer will host a lunch for students. Power Point and web-based presentations can be accommodated as well as most other technology requests.
***If you are planning to provide anything other than box or bag lunches, please have someone from your organization available for set up and clean up.

Option 4: Afternoon Information Session

The employer will host an afternoon information session, at the law school, after classes finish for the day from 3:00 – 4:00pm. Technology is available with a technology request.  Some employers choose to bring afternoon refreshments to entice students. Please let us know in advance what you plan to do.

Option 5: Off Campus Evening Event

The employer will host a 1½-hour social gathering either at their firm or a local venue in the late afternoon/early evening typically from 4:30 to 6:00pm or 5:30 - 7:00pm.
***Due to the number of employers, some employers may share dates

Regardless of the option chosen, the Career Development Office will assist employers in coordinating and advertising their event. Electronic billboards, website, and 12Twenty announcements, as well as placement in the law college weekly news digest will help generate buzz about an employer’s upcoming visit.

Please see the linked registration form and contact Meghan Rivera in our office at your earliest convenience at (402) 472-5130 or lawcareer@unl.edu if you would like to reserve a date!
