Broadband Initiative seeks outstanding community projects

The Nebraska Broadband Initiative is accepting nominations for outstanding community broadband projects until August 14, 2015. Projects will be recognized in three categories:

Outstanding Infrastructure Development Project
This award recognizes communities which have successfully partnered with a broadband provider to improve broadband availability.

Outstanding Digital Literacy Project
This award recognizes communities for their efforts to improve digital literacy.

Outstanding Youth Project
This award recognizes projects which engage youth in activities which support IT development.

Awards will be presented at the Rural Futures Conference in Lincoln on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015. 

To apply, download the application click here.  E-mail the completed nomination form to Anne Byers (anne.byers@nebaska.gov) by August 14, 2015.  Up to three supporting documents may be attached.

Single community, multi-community or regional projects are eligible.

Applications are due August 14, 2015.

Criteria used to evaluation the nominations include: 
  • How well the need is identified (10 points) 
  • How well does the project address the need identified (20 points) 
  • Evaluate the overall strength of community collaboration/partnerships demonstrated by this project (20 points) 
  • Evaluate the overall impact of the project (20 points) 
  • What is your overall evaluation of the project (20 points) 
  • Rank compared to other projects (10 points)
