For Teachers

The Nebraska Writing Project believes that the best teachers of writing are teachers themselves, and that teachers provide the best instruction for other teachers. As part of our mission, we provide further educational opportunities for teachers.

Summer Institutes

Every year, NeWP hosts institutes intended for teachers of all disciplines and grade levels to earn graduate credits. These institutes are excellent opportunities to connect with other educators and develop your professional knowledge!

Graduate Programs

The Nebraska Writing Project Institutes can provide the core of several University of Nebraska graduate degrees. Combinations of NeWP institutes can fulfill requirements for the Graduate Certificate in the Teaching of Writing, graduate programs in English, and graduate programs in Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education (TLTE).

Teacher of the Year Award

Established in 2000, the Carol MacDaniels Teacher of the Year Award recognizes the work of a Nebraska teacher who exemplifies the principles for which NeWP stands. Through a teacher-monitored nomination process, NeWP selects each year a Nebraska teacher who has made a significant contribution to writing education in the state.
