2 Year Master of Architecture / New Applicants
The Master of Architecture (2-Year) is the accredited degree by the National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB).
The 2-year M.Arch professional program is designed for applicants who do not already hold a professional degree in Architecture and are seeking a career as a licensed architect. Applicants who hold a professional degree in Architecture are welcome to explore the M.S. Arch, M.S. Arch ID, and M.CRP Masters graduate programs.
Prerequisite: All applicants must hold a bachelor of science degree in Architecture or its equivalent from a NAAB accredited institution.
Admitted 2-year M.Arch students begin in the fall term.

2 Year Master of Architecture / Current 4th Year UNL Architecture Students
The Master of Architecture (2-Year) is the accredited degree by the National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB) and degree required for licensure and professional Architecture practice.
Prerequisite: Must be current student completing (or have completed) the bachelor of science in Architecture degree at the UNL College of Architecture.

3 Year Master of Architecture
The 3 Year Master of Architecture program is designed for those students wishing to pursue a masters degree in architecture after having received a bachelors degree in another field. Also accredited by the National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB), students graduating from this program are able to work towards becoming a licensed architect.
Prerequisite: All students must hold a bachelors degree in any field and have completed a college level calculus course (3 credits) prior to beginning coursework.
Admitted 3-year M.Arch students begin in the fall term.

Accreditation: NAAB
In the United States, most registration boards require a degree from an accredited professional degree program as a prerequisite for licensure. The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), which is the sole agency authorized to accredit professional degree programs in architecture offered by institutions with U.S. regional accreditation, recognizes three types of degrees: the Bachelor of Architecture, the Master of Architecture, and the Doctor of Architecture. A program may be granted an eight-year term, an eight-year term with conditions, or a two-year term of continuing accreditation, or a three-year term of initial accreditation, depending on the extent of its conformance with established education standards.
Doctor of Architecture and Master of Architecture degree programs may require a non-accredited undergraduate degree in architecture for admission. However, the non-accredited degree is not, by itself, recognized as an accredited degree.
The University of Nebraska College of Architecture offers the following NAAB-accredited degree program(s):
- 2-year M.Arch (prerequisite: undergraduate degree in Architecture + 58 credits for degree)
- 3-year M.Arch (prerequisite: undergraduate degree in any field + 92 credits hours for degree)

Admitted and current students in all M.Arch programs are also eligible to apply for a Teaching Assistant (TA) position during all semesters of full-time enrollment . As a TA, students support a faculty member or teaching team in a variety of undergraduate Design and Architecture courses and are rewarded for their efforts with a monthly stipend and tuition remission. On average, TA's recieve $17,800 in financial benefits per academic year in addition to valuable teaching and design research experience. All students in the College of Architecture’s Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Interior Design programs (UNL and UNO) are required to lease, purchase or have ready access to a laptop computer that meets or exceeds the specifications listed in the Computer and Software Requirements document.
